Ilem Terms of Use

These terms are a legal agreement between you and Ilem Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17463494), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. "We", "us" and "Ilem" mean Ilem Ltd. "The app" means the Ilem mobile application and everything in it.

By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Our Privacy Policy, at https://ilemapp.com/privacy, explains how we handle your data and forms part of these terms.

1. What Ilem is

Ilem is an Islamic learning app. It offers the Qur'an, recorded lectures, short audio Benefits, books, prayer times and daily remembrances, along with study tools such as transcripts, quizzes, revision decks and personal notes.

The app is provided for education and personal benefit. Nothing in it is a fatwa, legal ruling or personal religious advice. Always consult a qualified scholar for questions about your own circumstances.

2. Who can use the app

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should use the app with the agreement of a parent or guardian, and any subscription must be bought by an adult.

3. Your account

You do not need an account to read, listen or use prayer times. An account is needed for free picks and ilem Plus.

You sign in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for keeping that sign-in secure. One account per person; do not share accounts.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. See the Privacy Policy for what deletion does and does not remove.

4. What is free, and free picks

Every book, every lecture, every Benefit's audio and transcript, the Qur'an and prayer times are available without payment.

Study tools on lectures (transcript, summary, notes, faster playback, offline download, quiz and revision deck) and on Benefits (quiz, notes, saving) are part of ilem Plus.

Signed-in users receive free picks: a set number of lectures or lecture series and Benefits whose study tools you can unlock permanently without paying. The app tells you how many picks you have before you use one. Picks belong to your account and to the device they were used on. They cannot be transferred, refunded or reset by creating another account. We may change the number of picks offered to new users; picks already used are not taken away.

5. ilem Plus subscription

5.1 What you get

ilem Plus unlocks the study tools described above on every lecture and Benefit for as long as your subscription is active.

5.2 Price and billing

ilem Plus is sold as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The price is shown in the app and in the store before you buy, in your local currency. Payment is taken by Apple or Google under their terms.

5.3 Renewal and cancellation

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can cancel at any time in your Apple or Google subscription settings; the app's Settings screen has a link. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep ilem Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Deleting your account or the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in the store.

5.4 Refunds

Refunds for subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google, not by us, because they take the payment. To request one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store or the refund page in Google Play. We cannot issue, approve or deny refunds ourselves. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

5.5 Changes to price or content

We may change the price of ilem Plus. Apple or Google will tell you before a price change takes effect and, where required, ask you to agree. We may add or remove content from the app; if we remove content you have paid to access we will try to give you reasonable notice.

5.6 Restore purchases

If you reinstall the app or change device, use Restore purchases in Settings to reconnect an existing subscription bought with the same Apple ID or Google account.

6. Your licence to use the content

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app and its content for your own private, non-commercial study.

The Qur'an is the word of Allah and belongs to no one. This licence concerns our arrangement, typesetting and study materials, and the work of the scholars, translators and organisations credited in the app.

7. Third-party content and credits

Lectures are used with the permission of the organisations and speakers who recorded them. Qur'an text, translation and recitations in the scroll reader are provided by the Al Quran Cloud API. Mushaf page layout and typefaces come from the Quranic Universal Library and the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex. Books are distributed free with thanks to IslamHouse.com. Full credits and licences are in the app under Settings, Licences and Acknowledgements.

Third-party material remains the property of its owners. If you believe content in the app infringes your rights, email hello@ilemapp.com with details and we will respond promptly.

8. Accuracy of content

We take care with the content and its sources. Transcripts are prepared from recordings and may contain errors. Translations are one rendering among many and are not the Qur'an itself. Prayer times are calculated from your location using standard published methods and may differ from your local mosque. We do not guarantee that any content is complete, current or free from error, and you should not rely on it as the sole basis for a religious decision.

9. Acceptable use

You must not use the app in any way that breaks the law, interferes with its operation, attempts to bypass payment or free-pick limits, or harms other users or us. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the app available but do not promise uninterrupted service. Parts of the app depend on third-party services and internet access. We may update, change or withdraw features at any time. We may end these terms and stop providing the app on reasonable notice; if we do, any subscription will not renew.

11. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights, including that the app will be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and these terms do not take those rights away.

Otherwise, the app and its content are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, for any loss you could have avoided, or for any business loss. Our total liability to you for all claims arising from the app in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for ilem Plus in that period, or £50 if you paid nothing.

12. Apple and Google

If you downloaded the app from the App Store, you acknowledge that these terms are between you and Ilem Ltd, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to maintain or support the app, is not responsible for any claim about it, and is not responsible for investigating or settling any claim that the app infringes third-party rights. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo and are not on any US government list of prohibited parties.

If you downloaded the app from Google Play, Google's terms of service also apply to the download and to any purchase.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also rely on the law and courts of the part of the UK where you live. If you are a consumer in the UK you may bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version at this address with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
